Why your chart stays on your phone

Your birth date, your birth time and the place you were born are some of the most personal facts about you. They are also all an astrology app needs to draw your chart. Many apps send them to a server to do it. We decided Netruve would not.
What "on your phone" really means
An astronomy engine runs inside the app. It works out where the Sun, Moon and planets were at your birth, builds your houses, your life chapters and the Chinese Four Pillars, and stores the result in an encrypted database on your phone. Nothing about when and where you were born needs to travel anywhere for that to happen.
The app is built so that it cannot send those details even by accident. It has no endpoint that accepts a birth time, a latitude or a longitude.
What does use a server
Two small things: your sign-in (an email address and a random account ID), and your subscription status if you buy Netruve Plus. Your card details are handled by Google Play or the App Store, never by us.
Cloud-written readings are optional and off by default. If you turn them on, only an anonymous summary of the sky is sent so that the words can be written, never your birth details and never your question.
Why we bother
- Less to lose. Data that never reaches a server cannot leak from one.
- No profile of you. There are no ads and no analytics software in the app, so there is nothing to build a profile from.
- Trust you can check. The reasoning behind every answer is one tap away under "Why we say this".
The honest trade-off
Because your profiles live on the phone, we cannot restore them if the phone is lost and you have no backup. That is why the app can save an encrypted backup file with a passphrase only you know, and, on iPhone, an encrypted copy in your own iCloud. We cannot recover a lost passphrase, because we never see it.
